“Our school community is saddened by the loss of a member of our school family,” Woloshyn said.

“Condolences on behalf of the school community have been sent to the family. They have been assured that our thoughts and prayers are with them now and in the coming days and weeks.”

The Parkland School Division’s Trauma Follow-Up Team has been brought in for staff and students in need of support or someone to talk to. The support will be provided as long as it’s needed.

“We are aware that students process loss in different ways and we would encourage you to talk and listen to your children to assist them in understanding this loss,” Woloshyn said.

RCMP haven’t confirmed the cause of the collision but said alcohol and road conditions aren’t believed to be factors.
