Steelworkers Local 1005 voted yes on a collective agreement Tuesday, that clears the way for the sale of Hamilton steelmaker Stelco to Bedrock Industries.
Approximately 540 active workers were eligible to vote. Members voted to accept the contract by 63.8 per cent and 90 per cent of the membership turned out to vote.

The judge overseeing the court-supervised sale has indicated that collective bargaining agreements are needed, before he will sign off on the deal.

It has already been approved by steelworkers in Nanticoke.
The details were presented to active workers and retirees, during separate meetings last week.
Voting wrapped up around 8 p.m.
