A Cole Harbour man is facing numerous charges including sexual assault, confinement, and uttering threats after another man called 911 after receiving a plea for help.

According to police, a man sitting in his car outside a store in Middle Musquodoboit on Saturday at about 5:40 p.m. said a Mazda car pulled up in the parking lot and a man in the passenger seat got out and went into the store.

Police say the female driver then exited the car and gave the man in his vehicle a note and gestured for the man to call before quickly getting back in the Mazda. The man said the woman looked extremely upset. The passenger of the Mazda then left the store, got back into the car and the pair drove away.

The note, police say, asked the man to “please call police” and included an address on Elderbank Back Road. The man immediately called 911.

Halifax District RCMP say they travelled to the address where they located a man and woman in a residence. The man is reported by police to have been in breach of previous court ordered conditions. He was arrested without incident and taken into custody.

Over the course of the investigation, RCMP say it was also revealed that after handing the note to the man, the woman and man drove back to Elderbank Back Road and during the drive, the male passenger allegedly struck her in the face. Police say the woman noticed an oncoming car’s brake lights come on abruptly at the time after passing her vehicle.

RCMP say they believe the driver may have witnessed the woman being assaulted and ask the driver to contact them.

The General Investigative Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has charged Kevin Joseph MacDonald, 50, with sexual assault, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats against a person, uttering threats against property, theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon, overcome resistance by choking, two counts of breaching probation and seven counts of breach of recognizance.
