Halifax Regional Police are reporting that one of their officers was injured after an incident at their Gottingen Street police headquarters on Sunday.
According to police, a man was lying in the grass outside of the building when he told an officer that he needed medical assistance.

While officers and the man were waiting for Emergency Health Services to arrive, the man stood up and approached one of the officers.
Police say when they asked him to sit down, the man turned around and punched one of the officers in the face.
The man was arrested and the officer received treatment for minor injuries.

Daniel Angus Ryan, 24, faces one count of assault a police officer causing bodily harm, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and breach of a probation order.
Ryan will appear in court on Monday.
