OPP say a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a commercial vehicle in Hamilton Tuesday afternoon.
The east bound lanes of Highway 403 were closed for several hours between the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Aberdeen Avenue before reopening at 10 p.m.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the female was hit on the highway just before 4 p.m.
The incident caused heavy traffic delays in both directions on the 403 as well as longer than normal traffic jams on the mountain and in the west end.
Schmidt says the west bound 403 re-opened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The name and age of the female who was struck has not been released.
Police are still trying to piece together what happened.
