CFL Week set to launch in Regina

The CFL is breaking 17 years of tradition and moving its biggest off-season event, the national players’ combine, west to Saskatchewan.

The league will host the combine, part of the CFL Week event, from March 21-26 in Regina. The combine has been held in Toronto since 2000.

“This will be the biggest off-season event in the long and storied history of the league,” Christina Litz, senior vice-president of marketing and content for the CFL, said.

CFL week will feature 50 of the CFL’s best players including Bo Levi Mitchell, Naaman Roosevelt, Duron Carter and Darian Durant.

Coaches, GMs and league executives will meet with the Rules Committee and Competition Committee on March 21-22 to discuss rule changes for the upcoming season.

On March 23, CFL coaches will hold special conferences to discuss what their plans are for the upcoming season.

On March 25-26, first and second-year university athletes from Regina, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton will take part in a football showcase to show teams the young talent Canadian football has to offer.

The CFL FanFest will take place from March 21 to 25. It will feature autograph sessions with players and alumni, and a chance for fans to get their photo with the Grey Cup. Fans will also get a chance to participate in their own CFL combine events.
