Calgary grow-op busts net $1.3 million dollars in marijuana plants

CALGARY- Three Calgary men are facing a number of charges after police busted two marijuana grow-ops.

Police and RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in Butte Valley Bay in Balzac late last month, and discovered 444 marijuana plants and growing equipment.

Then on December 4, they found more than 650 plants in a home in Panamount Gardens N.W. in Calgary, and realized the furnace and hot water tank had been altered to supply carbon dioxide to the plants.

In both operations, the residents were able to steal electricity, and Alberta Health Services has deemed both homes unfit for human habitation.

Combined, the seized plants have a street value of more than $1.3 million dollars.

40-year-old Brendon Ho and 53-year-old Hoi So are charged in connection with the Balzac raid, while 42-year-old You Tang Huang is charged in the Calgary investigation.
