A day after intense snow squalls battered the Greater Toronto Area, a Colorado low is bringing significant snowfall to southern Ontario Friday night and into Saturday.
Environment Canada said five to 10 centimetres of snow may fall with some localized areas seeing up to 15 centimetres.
The weather agency said with milder air coming in on Saturday, it could possibly cause the white stuff to change into rain for some regions.
Environment Canada issued special weather statements for several communities, including the following areas:
• Toronto
• York – Durham
• Halton-Peel
• Hamilton
• Dufferin – Innisfil
• Waterloo-Wellington
• Belleville

Forecasters said the rain will change back to some snow Saturday night “as colder air returns in the wake of the low, with perhaps a couple more centimetres of snow possible.”
In preparation for Friday’s storm, some institutions posted cancellations and advisories on social media.
The news of another snowfall event comes after much of southern Ontario was blanketed by a snow squall on Thursday causing havoc for motorists with near whiteout conditions in some areas.
Ontario Provincial Police said they received over 500 collision reports on provincially-patrolled roads in the GTA and surrounding areas on Thursday.

The wintry weather conditions also caused delays for the GTA’s public transportation network. GO Transit, the Toronto Transit Commission and Pearson International Airport all experienced slow downs during Thursday’s snow squall.
Environment Canada is reminding the public to expect deteriorating winter travel conditions Friday evening and into Saturday.
