Mission Ridge Winter Park set to open this weekend

Good news for skiers and snowboarders in southern Saskatchewan. Mission Ridge Winter Park will be opening this weekend.

The hill has taken advantage of the cold weather and made enough snow that all the ski runs on the hill will be ready to go on Dec. 13.

“The colder the better. When we were getting into making snow. That’s perfect! Extremely efficient. Same amount of water is going on the hill, but we’re making three or fpir times the amount of snow with that water when it’s that cold,” Anders Svenson, snow director with Mission Ridge, said.

The hill currently has 25 snowmakers running 24/7 to make sure there will be enough snow. The terrain park will open with a few freestyle features along with all the runs being freshly groomed.

The temperature for this weekend will be in the minus 20s but things should warm up by next week.

“We’re on the same page as everybody else, once our snowmaking is done we want to see minus five and sun,” added Svenson.

An adult day pass for the ski hill will cost $32.38 and a junior day pass (age 13-16) will cost you $26.27.
