A vehicle rollover in Mission Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of the driver, RCMP confirm.
Around 12 p.m., emergency crews were called to Sylvester Road north of Lougheed Highway in the Hatzic area, where they found a pickup truck on its side in the ditch. There was a lone occupant inside who was suffering from serious injuries.
Despite crews cutting through the window to reach the victim and paramedics attempting aid, the driver died at the scene. The deceased is a male believed to be in his late 70s, RCMP confirm.
Police closed Sylvester Road for several hours while they conducted their investigation. The road has now been reopened.
Although it’s still early in the investigation, police believe the single-vehicle crash was the result of a pre-existing medical condition. Neither weather nor careless driving are believed to be at fault.
RCMP would not release the identity of the driver at press time.
