A Lethbridge drug house has been boarded up, fenced in and had its locks changed as the two renters face charges.
Lethbridge police and the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit worked to stop drug activity at 611 – 15 St. South.
The SCAN investigation started in September after multiple complaints of “drug activity.”
“It’s not the environment that you would want your family, or anyone else to have to put up with,” Lethbridge Police Service Sergeant Jason Carrier said. “So when we are able to shut one of these down, it’s a win for everybody.”

SCAN’s evidence allowed police to get a search warrant, resulting in a Sept. 29 seizure of drugs, replica firearms, ammunition and cash.
SCAN said the drug activity continued, prompting them to go to Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench on Nov. 22 to get a Community Safety Order (CSO) against the owner of the home. This gave SCAN the authority to close the property and ban anyone from living there for 90 days.

“This is an example of how the combined efforts of the SCAN unit and our police partners are keeping Albertans safe,” Alberta Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Kathleen Ganley said in a statement.
The CSO also puts restrictions on occupancy for one year from the court date.
