Southern Manitoba is digging out Wednesday, after being hit by the first big winter storm of the season. Snow continues to fall, causing road closures, collisions and drifts.

On Wednesday morning, CAA Manitoba said they had 195 calls within the city. Many people were stuck in snow banks and needed a tow.

“On a more typical winter morning that number would be about 40 to 50 [calls] by mid-morning,” Roz Pulo, with CAA Manitoba said.

Global News gathered photos and videos of the winter storm that hit the area over the past few days.

As of Wednesday, 25-25 centimetres of snow has fallen in southern Manitoba.

Another two to four cm is expected to fall Wednesday, with winds still hitting 60 km/h, according to Environment Canada.

While the snow and wind will ease Wednesday night, a major cold front will move in following the snow, with lows falling below -20 C expected by the end of the week. The windchill will make it feel like it’s in the -30 C to -35 C range.
