Environment Canada calling for snow overnight across southern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for between 5 to 10 centimetres of snow across portions of southern Ontario.

The weather agency is also calling for winter driving conditions later this evening.

The areas included in the advisory are as follows:

  • Caledon
  • Uxbridge – Beaverton – Northern Durham Region
  • Newmarket – Georgina – Northern York Region
  • Dufferin – Innisfil
  • Barrie – Orillia – Midland
  • Peterborough – Kawartha Lakes
  • Owen Sound – Blue Mountains – Northern Grey County

Snowfall is expected to develop from west to east, however, conditions are expected to improve by Monday morning.

Snowfall advisories have also been issued for Toronto, Mississauga – Brampton, Halton Hills – Milton, and Vaughan – Richmond Hill – Markham.

Environment Canada says snow will be mixed with rain near the lake, preventing any accumulation from occurring.

The precipitation is expected to ease prior to the Monday morning commute.
