North Edmonton drug bust nets over half-a-kilo of cocaine, over $50K in cash

Edmonton police said a man was arrested and officers seized over half-a-kilogram of cocaine when they executed a search warrant in the northside community of Eastwood on Monday.

They said the drugs were seized from a home in the area of 119 Avenue and 85 Street and that the raid was part of an ongoing investigation.

According to police, the raid also netted over $52,000 in cash, almost 90 grams of “cocaine base,” over 102 grams of meth, more than 195 grams of MDMA, 56 fentanyl pills and 36 codeine pills. In total, police said the drugs they seized had a street value of more than $77,000.

“Any amount of drugs off of our city streets means that a life was potentially saved,” Acting Insp. Kevin Berge with the Edmonton Police Service’s (EPS) EDGE Unit, said in a release Tuesday.

Officers also seized a 2011 Mercedes Benz under civil forfeiture as well as three watches, including a Rolex worth $25,000.

Police said Nixon Nguyen, 25, has been charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in connection with the drug seizure.
