WINNIPEG — Two men are in critical condition after they were shot near Donald Street and Stradbrook Avenue early Saturday morning.

Around 3 a.m., police received reports of gunshots in that area. They arrived on scene to find two men with “what appeared to be gunshot wounds,” police said in a media release. Both men were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

“They appear to be connected but I don’t know if there is any relation between them,” Const. Rob Carver of the Winnipeg police said.

Police said there is no one in custody.

“I think it’s one of the most concerning things that a city could have. We’ve got the potential of shots fired in a public area and potentially two people wounded in this,” Carver said.

Police are investigating the incident on scene. Donald Street is closed between McMillan Avenue and River Avenue, while Stradbrook Avenue is closed off to eastbound traffic from Scott Street.
