Montreal Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a vacant two-storey duplex in Ahuntsic-Cartierville Friday night.
The fire broke out at around 10 p.m. on Clark Street near the Metropolitan highway.
It took 120 firefighters to extinguish it and nearly 12 hours to complete the operation.
The neighboring building was evacuated upon the firefighters’ arrival.
The Montreal Fire Department transferred the file to Montreal Police as they don’t know what started the blaze.
The building was demolished Saturday afternoon.
As the cold weather approaches, the Montreal Fire department wants to remind citizens to check if their smoke detectors are working properly and to change their batteries.
