Calgary police have laid charges against three people after the theft of three vehicles last week.
The first two were stolen sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 5 a.m. on Nov. 7.
Police said a Honda Accord and a Hyundai Santa Fe were taken from an auto service shop in the 200 block of Hawksbrow Drive. N.W. after culprits broke into the after-hours key drop box.
The next day, a man’s Toyota Sienna was stolen from a hotel in the 1200 block of McKinnon Drive N.E. at around 9 a.m. The car was running and unattended at the time.
Police said the suspect exited an Accord — believed to be the same one stolen from the auto service shop — and drove off in the Sienna. A second man stayed in the Accord and left the hotel in the vehicle.
“Realizing there were two stolen vehicles now mobile, resources from across the Calgary Police Service were called in to assist,” a Thursday news release from the Calgary Police Service (CPS) explained.
While following the two stolen vehicles throughout the city for several hours, police said the suspects met up with a woman in the community of Bridgeland who they drove to a northeast hotel. While there, police said the group entered the stolen Santa Fe. All three then travelled together to a northeast pub.
Officers were able to take three suspects into custody without incident in the 2000 block of 16 Avenue N.E.
Wesley Michell-Scott, 25, Ali Imran Naqvi, 29, and Santana Jodie Ahpay, 24, are facing numerous charges including theft of a motor vehicle and break and enter.
