34 exotic birds stolen from Hamilton home: police

Hamilton police are investigating after someone allegedly broke into a shed at a home and took 34 exotic birds. Police estimate the value of the birds is over $2,700.

Police said the incident occurred at a house in the Oakley and Floresta courts area of Ancaster between Nov. 7 and Nov. 12.

The following birds were taken from the shed:

  • One pair of Green singing finch
  • Two pairs of Gold breast finch
  • Two Blue Gold finches
  • Two Yellow Gold finches
  • Four Green-backed Gold finches

Twelve Forbes Tricolour Parrot finches were also taken. Police said these birds are rare and difficult to acquire, and can sell for as much as $120 each.
