Nationwide warrant issued for man wanted in Alberta homicide

The RCMP has issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with a homicide south of Edmonton Friday.

Officers were called to respond to a reported fight in Maskwacis, Alta. early Friday morning. Police said the altercation saw two men attacked “with edged weapons,” one suffered non-life-threatening injuries but the other victim – a 27-year-old man – died of his injuries after he was rushed to hospital.

An autopsy Monday confirmed homicide as the cause of death, Mounties said.

Allan Joseph Soosay, 26, is wanted for second-degree murder, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm.

He is described as being 5’8″ tall and weighing 166 pounds. Police said he has black hair and brown eyes.

Police said people should not approach Soosay if they come across him and instead call 911, their local police department, the Maskwacis RCMP detachment at 780-585-3767 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Maskwacis is about a one-hour drive south of Edmonton.
