Taxi driver robbed, stabbed in east-end Montreal

Police are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a taxi driver Friday night in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

The robbery happened at around 9 p.m. behind an apartment building on Sherbrooke Street East and 47th Avenue, where the two passengers — a man and a woman, asked to be dropped off.

Once behind the building, the man believed to be in his 30s, threatened the driver with a sharp object while the woman, thought to be in her 20s, took all the  valuables in the vehicle.

Montreal police spokesperson Daniel Lacoursière said at some point during the robbery, the male suspect stabbed the driver in the lower body before fleeing the scene.

The 53-year-old taxi driver was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation continues.
