A New York woman who was out hiking says she got the surprise of a lifetime two days after a historic election in the United States.
Margot Gerster wrote on Facebook that she needed to find a place to relax after being “heartbroken” over the election, so she decided to go for a hike in Chappaqua, which is in upstate New York.

While there, she says she ran into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who despite winning the popular vote, conceded the presidential race to Donald Trump early Wednesday morning.
“I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her,” Gerster wrote on Facebook.
“She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk.”
The post has since been made private.
CNN reports that the encounter is the first time anyone saw Clinton “outside the election bubble” since conceding.

In an interview with CNN, Gerster said Clinton was nice, kind and gracious despite Gerster’s “fan-girling.”
“She seemed as well as anybody could be expected after such a crazy, crazy experience.”
