The death of 38-year-old Benjamin Green in June 2014 led to a first-degree murder decision for Anthony Quattrocchi on Friday at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon.
Quattrocchi will also serve a concurrent 18-month sentence for offering an indignity to human remains.

Green’s body was found in a home in the 1000-block of Avenue K North. An investigation revealed his body was found in a freezer.
The victim was unlawfully confined for a number of days before his death, which was a “huge factor” in the decision, according to Crown prosecutor Rochelle Wempe.
“The fact that it was a strangulation I think was a big factor too. It’s not a quick death,” Wempe said.
He was initially charged with second-degree murder, which was later upgrade to first-degree murder.
