A North Vancouver international high school student has left the country after being arrested for allegedly threatening to bring a gun to school.
On Tuesday, the student allegedly threatened to bring a gun to school to assault a teacher. Once school staff were made aware of the threat, North Vancouver RCMP and administration responded “through planned response procedures,” according to a police release.
Police said no one was injured in the incident and a student was arrested. An investigation by the RCMP ensued and a weapon was recovered.
According to police, the student is no longer enrolled in the North Vancouver School District and is no longer in Canada.
Authorities are now investigating a second international student in connection with the same threat. They say that student is not currently attending school while police investigate.
“The safety of all students and staff is a policing top priority,” RCMP Cpl. Richard De Jongsaid.
“This situation was handled quickly and, as a result, the threat was immediately addressed. RCMP advises that the school site remains safe for classes to continue as usual.”
Mounties did not disclose the identities or ages of the suspects in their investigation. No charges have been laid.
