Nearly 800 fentanyl pills were taken off the streets in southern Alberta after two separate investigations by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).
Police say they also seized a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun.
On Oct. 13, ALERT says it seized 193 fentanyl pills after searching two homes and two vehicles in Lethbridge. Twenty-four grams of cocaine and $3,400 in cash were also found.
Three men — Corey Amyotte, 29, Ali Zalfo, 22, and Jerry Bull, 33 — were arrested by ALERT.
They face a total of 32 charges relating to drugs and firearms offences.
In the second incident, a vehicle stop was conducted in Aldersyde, south of Calgary, on Oct. 20. A total of 584 fentanyl pills were found in a vehicle. Police believe the pills were headed to Lethbridge.
William Hatch, 33, and Awet Abraha, 28, were arrested and charged with six drug-related offences.
ALERT is an integrated team consisting of Lethbridge Police Service and RCMP officers.
