A man in custody of the Winnipeg Remand Centre died in hospital Tuesday, the province confirmed.
Little information is being released regarding the man’s death. “For privacy reasons, we are unable to provide additional information about the deceased person,” a provincial spokesperson said in an email.
This latest death follows two separate incidents earlier this year. An inmate died on the morning of Oct. 12. He had a medical emergency following a struggle. Another inmate died in May after an epileptic seizure.
Manitoba Corrections will launch an internal review and the death will be reported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as required by law, according to the province.
