Winnipeg Blue Bombers to add Doug Brown to Ring of Honour

Doug Brown will be inducted into the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' Ring of Honour during the team's final home game of the regular season on October 29.

WINNIPEG – Recent Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductee Doug Brown will be the ninth and final name added to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ Ring of Honour in its inaugural year.

Brown was chosen as a CFL All-Star seven times during his 11-season career with the Bombers. The defensive tackle also won the league’s top Canadian award during his rookie season in 2001.

Brown was inducted to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame last month. He was added to the Winnipeg Football Hall of Fame in 2012.

“To be recognized by a club that has such a storied history with so many players that defined the Canadian football landscape is very humbling and a tremendous honour,” said Brown in a statement.

Brown’s name will be placed on the Ring of Honour during Winnipeg’s final home game of the regular season on October 29. He joins fellow inductees Herb Gray, Ken Ploen, Chris Walby, Milt Stegall, Leo Lewis, Gerry James, Dieter Brock and Bud Grant.

The Bombers started the shrine this season as a way to pay tribute to the team’s greatest players. Going forward, only one legend will be added each season.
