A brand new transit service aimed at commuters heading to and from Calgary launches on Tuesday.
The regional public transportation system – called “On-it” – is designed to connect towns and cities around Calgary with one another.
The pilot project shuttles commuters between Calgary, Okotoks, Turner Valley, Black Diamond and High River.
The bus runs from Monday to Friday during peak commuter hours.
Calgary Regional Partnership (CRP) executive director Colleen Shepherd says the hope is to have the service eventually run all day long, and expand it to different communities.
“We’re doing a feasibility study now in Strathmore and Chestermere – the idea being to have a fully connected region,” Shepherd said.
Calgarians can catch the coaches at the Somerset-Bridlewood LRT Station.
Tickets for a one-way single fare run from $2 to $8, or monthly passes can be purchased.
