Donald Trump tapes the star of the show on ‘Saturday Night Live’ opening

Alec Baldwin put on his Donald Trump persona to tackle the most recent scandal of the 2016 U.S. presidential election on Saturday Night Live.

It started with what appeared to be this past week’s Vice Presidential Debate, but quickly moved on to a “Breaking News update” from CNN telling viewers about the recent leaked video where the Republican presidential candidate was heard talking about hitting on a married woman and grabbing women inappropriately.

WATCH LIVE: Globalnews.ca will live stream the presidential debate at 9 p.m. ET Sunday as well as provide live coverage of everything Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump say.

“Are you not entertained?” Baldwin as Trump asked SNL cast member Cecily Strong, who was playing the news anchor.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

He also offered up an “apple-ogy.” When asked if he was trying to apologize, Baldwin-as-Trump responded: “I would never do that.”

He offered up the excuse that the comments were made in 2005, “back when [he] was a young, childish, 59-year-old man.”

(In real life, Trump first offered an apology “if anyone was offended,” before releasing a video apology saying he wasn’t a “perfect person,” but neither were Hillary and Bill Clinton.)

The interview with Trump ends, but before the skit does, Baldwin-as-Trump’s voice can be heard making more and more lewd comments as he believes his microphone was off.
