RCMP have made several arrests in connection to a “violent altercation” at a wedding social in northern Manitoba, which sent six people to hospital.
On Oct. 2, around 3:30 a.m., RCMP responded to a serious incident in Lake Manitoba First Nation, Man.
A “violent altercation” occurred after a wedding social, RCMP said. When officers arrived on scene there were multiple victims. Various weapons had been used, but firearms weren’t involved.

STARS Air Ambulance transported five men, aged 43, 27, 25, 40 and 41, and one woman, 47, to a Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries. All the victims were from Lake Manitoba First Nation.
RCMP arrested four suspects:
- Marcus McLean, 22, from Dauphin. He faces: assault with a weapon x 2, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and failure to comply with condition of recognizance.
- Waylon Paul, 36, from Lake Manitoba First Nation. He faces: aggravated assault x 3, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, failure to comply with condition of recognizance.
- Jeffery Sigurdson, 47, from the R.M. of Alonsa. He faces: possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, impaired operation by alcohol of motor vehicle, operation of motor vehicle while being pursued by police x 2, driving while prohibited.
- Hilda Molly Campbell, 31, from Lake Manitoba First Nation. She faces: aggravated assault x 3, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon.
The investigation is ongoing. There were a large number of participants, and RCMP investigators are working to piece together the circumstances of the event.
