Batten down the hatches, switch in the snow tires; winter is coming.
B.C. saw its first official snowfall of the season on Saturday, with 10 to 20 centimetres falling in the B.C. Peace River District and Fort Nelson region. The majority of the snow fell throughout the day but a few flakes will remain into the evening.
Aside from higher elevations, this was the first snowfall for the province leading into winter 2016/2017.
Temperatures hovered around freezing for much of the day in Fort Saint John as the snow storm also caused a power outage affecting about 2,400 customers.
A total of 21 centimetres fell in Fort Saint John and Chetwynd received 11 centimetres.
The cold weather was due to an influx of Arctic air over the northeastern part of the province, according to Global News meteorologist Yvonne Schalle.
Closer to the South Coast, flakes were falling lightly on top of Whistler Mountain on Saturday as Metro Vancouver was hit with rain.
Many celebrated and bemoaned the onslaught of winter up north, sharing dozens of pictures over social media.
