64-year-old semi driver dies in rollover near Lethbridge

A collision on a southern Alberta highway Thursday night claimed the life of a man driving a semi-trailer.

RCMP said the loaded truck was travelling north on Highway 25, seven kilometres north of Lethbridge at the Park Lake turnoff just after 8 p.m. Officers from Picture Butte and Coaldale were both called to the scene.

Sgt. Thomas Howell said the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn and it rolled into a ditch.

The 64-year-old driver was the only person in the vehicle. He died on scene.

Investigators are still trying to determine how fast the truck was travelling when the crash happened. They are also waiting on results of an autopsy to determine if there were any other factors.
