Montreal taxi drivers united in front of the courthouse once again Monday to protest against Uber.

As they stood outside, lawyers for the taxi industry requested another injunction – this time, to suspend Uber’s activities in Quebec.

In September, the provincial government and the ride-hailing service reached a last-minute agreement that would allow Uber to operate in Quebec for one year as part of a pilot project.

Lawyer Marc Antoine Cloutier argued Monday morning that the pilot project isn’t in effect yet and the ride-sharing service is operating illegally.

There is a 20-day grace period between the signing of a new deal and when it actually comes into effect.

Last week, a Quebec judge denied the taxi industry’s request for an injunction against the deal, saying it was premature as the pilot project had not yet started.

A decision on the second injunction is expected to be made Tuesday.
