3 people facing charges after Medicine Hat drug bust

Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with a drug raid in Medicine Hat Thursday, according to Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).

ALERT said its organized crime and gang team, along with officers with the Medicine Hat Police Service, raided a suspected drug stash house on 13 Street S.E. seizing an estimated $35,000 in drugs and cash.

Justin Lundstrom, 32, Jody Neuhauser, 36, and Kyla Bunzenmeyer, 24, have been charged with a total of 13 drug-related offences.

Lundstorm was held in custody and is awaiting a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday. Both Neuhauser and Bunzenmeyer were released on bail and are due back in court Sept. 29.

The arrests followed another drug investigation that occurred earlier Monday on Balmoral Street S.E. Police said the investigation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects.

According to ALERT, Kevin Rabeau, 33, Melissa Artemenko, 33, and Bradley Pletz, 33, are now facing charges in connection with that raid.

“Our goal is to maximize intelligence and dismantle the multiple tiers of organized drug trafficking that bring harm to the community,” Staff Sgt. Cory Both said.

Police said officers seized about $35,000 worth of cash and drugs including:

  • 307 grams of cocaine;
  • 63 grams of marijuana;
  • 2 grams of psilocybin;
  • a 2004 Dodge pickup truck;
  • $2,400 cash (proceeds of crime).

According to ALERT, its Medicine Hat has made a total of 13 arrests and seized over $100,000 worth of drugs and cash in September alone.
