Winnipeg Jets finish Young Stars Classic without a win

Josh Arason / Global News

The Winnipeg Jets’ rookies will return home from Penticton, B.C. without a victory.

The Jets completed the Young Stars Classic with a 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday afternoon. It was the Jets third consecutive defeat as they were outscored by a combined margin of 11-4 in their three losses to the Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames.

Kyle Connor scored the only Jets goal in the loss. Connor buried a one-timer on a pass from Jack Roslovic to open the scoring.

But the Oilers then reeled off four answered goals to secure the win. Jaedon Descheneau, Patrick Russell, Drake Caggiula and Joey Benik scored goals for Edmonton in the victory. The Oilers finished the mini-tourney with a perfect 3-0 record.
