University of Saskatchewan (U of S) students are being warned after a back-to-school party went awry.

A campus notification sent to all students called the party on Sept. 8 “out-of-control” and said it resulted in four Saskatoon students being taken to hospital.

“Students are reminded of the severe consequences they may face when putting themselves and others in potentially harmful situations. The university will not tolerate behaviour that threatens the safety of any member of our campus community,” read the notice.

The event, believed to be organized by the student association for the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, took place at a home off-campus.

U of S vice-provost Patti McDougall told Global News the university was made aware of the situation by a concerned neighbour.

According to McDougall, all four students who were taken to hospital are thought to be OK. They’re believed to have been hospitalized in relation to the consumption of alcohol.

The university is currently drafting an alcohol and substance abuse policy. It is expected to be complete in around three to four months.
