A 23-year-old man is in hospital in serious condition following a shooting in downtown Montreal early Sunday morning.
According to police, the shooting took place at around 3:45 a.m. on Mackay Street, just south of Ste-Catherine Street.
The victim, who was injured in the lower body, was taken inside a fast-food restaurant where he was treated by paramedics.
He was then taken to hospital with serious injuries but police say he is expected to survive.
The victim was struck by at least one bullet, according to André Leclerc, a Montreal police spokesperson
The circumstances and motive of the attack are still under investigation.
Police are hoping to interview witnesses throughout the day.
It is the second shooting in a week in the downtown area.
Last Sunday, a 21-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting on the corner of Crescent and Ste-Catherine streets.
