5 people facing dozens of human trafficking charges involving youth in Ottawa

Ottawa police say they’ve laid dozens of charges against a total of five people in three separate human trafficking investigations.

The first case involved two youths allegedly being recruited and groomed for prostitution last month.

Police arrested two women and one man in that case.

Earlier this month, police arrested a 27-year-old man after an alleged assault and wound up laying 10 charges against him, including trafficking in persons.

The third investigation took more than a year and focused on two people accused of operating a prostitution network based in several rental apartments throughout the Ottawa area.

The man and woman arrested in that case are each facing 29 charges, including five counts of trafficking in persons.
