Saskatoon police aid RCMP tracking stolen vehicle headed to city

Saskatoon police (SPS) assisted Mounties in tracking a stolen vehicle on Monday.

Just before 3 a.m. CT, RCMP notified SPS about a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Asquith and was evading police as it travelled towards Saskatoon.

Members of the air support unit (ASU) located the vehicle as it approached the west side of the city. Patrol units were notified and set up stop sticks.

The stop sticks were successful in disabling the vehicle which came to rest on Hart Road.

ASU members then saw three people abandon the vehicle and take off on foot.

With the help of ASU and police dogs, two men were found in the area. Both were arrested in backyards and now face charges.

The third person was not located. No description has been released of the suspect.
