Beiseker RCMP said they are investigating a deadly crash on Highway 9 north of Calgary Saturday.

Calgary EMS said paramedics were called to the crash north of Country Hills Boulevard at around 11:45 a.m. When emergency crews arrived, they determined a head-on collision had occurred between a northbound semi-truck and a southbound car.

EMS said the driver of the car was declared dead at the scene and that the impact caused the truck to land on its side in a field next to the highway. According to EMS, the car sustained “very significant damage.”

EMS said the driver of the truck, a man in his fifties, was able to get out of the truck after it stopped and did not suffer any injuries.

RCMP were still investigating what caused the crash Saturday afternoon and said Highway 9 will remain closed in both directions north of Highway 564 until further notice.
