Police were called to a “suspicious persons call” at a home in the area of 111 Avenue and 111 Street at around 12:15 p.m. where two people were found dead.

“It’s obviously a very disturbing scene for members,” Scott Pattison, a spokesperson with the Edmonton Police Service, said. “Two, appears to be, unsuspecting people.

“There is no risk to the surrounding community believed at this time,” he said. “We have a canine unit on scene just to go through the area, sweeping for evidence.”

Officers were tight-lipped on the situation, but Pattison said a male suspect who “appears intoxicated” was taken into custody. The man was not cooperating with police Friday afternoon, he added.

The identities of the deceased are not known at this time, nor is the cause of death.
