A 3-year-old boy was flown to the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) in Calgary after being hit by a pickup truck Friday morning in Redwood Meadows.

In a news release Friday, EMS said emergency crews were called around 9:20 a.m. after the boy was apparently hit in a driveway by a vehicle that was backing up.

According to Stuart Brideaux with EMS, the paramedics on scene assessed the boy and requested STARS attend to take him to Calgary. Their concern was the nature of his injuries as well as the distance by ground between the scene and the ACH.

The boy was in serious but otherwise stable and non-life threatening condition.

RCMP are investigating the cause of the crash.
