More cloud and rain, less sun for Labour Day long weekend

WINNIPEG — Despite a fairly decent week weather wise through most of southern Manitoba, that pattern won’t continue too far into the weekend.

Saturday will be your best bet to plan any outdoor activities albeit a bit windy once again.

There will be a threat of late day showers and a possible thunderstorm, but we are not anticipating any severe weather.

Sunday will a much cooler day with cloud cover and showers off and on likely through parts of the south. A Colorado low will push up from North Dakota and that rain will find it’s way into Manitoba.

How much rain is to come is hard to pinpoint at this time but we’re not going to see much in the way of sun at all.

Rain will continue at times into the Labour Day Monday before finally letting up later in the evening.

The lead up to the long weekend last year wasn’t amazing either. On the Friday, Winnipeg saw over 40 millimetres of rain.

Saturday was a bit better with a temperature of 22 Celsius but more rain, just under 12 mm fell in the city.

We can keep our fingers crossed for another mild September just like last year. Our temperatures spiked later on in the month hitting 27.5 C on September 27.
