Police have located missing 23-year-old Burlington, Ont. man Christopher Komac uninjured, after he went missing while jogging earlier this week.

Halton Regional Police said the avid runner disappeared after leaving his home in the area of Guelph Line and Prospect Street at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Const. Dan Jaworski said Komac was located by a police search and rescue team in a small greenspace, near Sturbridge Drive and Forestvale Drive, just after noon Friday — not far from where he had gone missing.

“He’s alive and well … and in order to make sure that we continue caring for his well being we’re going to have him assessed by an ambulance,” said Const. Dan Jaworski.

“He’s safe, his family’s been notified and are on their way to him right now.”

Jaworski said Komac had no injuries but could not confirm if he had been without food or water since Wednesday. He could not immediately provide details on how Komac had gone missing.

“We still don’t know any of that information,” he said. “Halton Police cannot thank the community here enough for the massive turnout and the support we enjoy from our community.”

Police recovered Komac’s cellphone in a park near Brant and North Service Road on Thursday morning and became increasingly concerned for his safety.

A police command post was set up at Roly Bird Park on Industrial Drive near North Service Road. More than 350 volunteers from the public turned out to search for Komac Friday morning.
