William Martin from Martin’s Pest Control attributes the spike in mouse populations to the warm and dry spring that Calgary experienced.

According to Martin, they have received a large volume of calls to his company about mice infestations in the last couple of months.

The daily email you need for 's top news stories.

Martin said most people don’t even know they have a mouse problem until they see one in their home, but by that time there are probably many more inside.

Homeowner Carolyn McConnell knows about mice infestations all too well.

“It was like a freeway,” McConnell said. “I’ve never seen that much mouse activity in the past five years.”

Martin says that there are things that you can do to keep the mice at bay, like keeping your home tidy and closing off any access points for mice to get into your home.
