RCMP said a 20-year-old man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after allegedly “causing a disturbance on a flight” headed for Edmonton.
Police said the man was taken into custody without incident after the plane landed safely at the Edmonton International Airport (EIA).
Mounties said they continue to investigate what happened and that it is too early to say whether charges would be laid but said the man was allegedly “behaving erratically” on the flight.

An EIA spokesperson confirmed the incident was connected to a WestJet flight but said they could not confirm further details.
Late Wednesday afternoon, WestJet emailed a statement to Global News regarding the matter.
“We can confirm that we had an incident on board one of our flights involving an unruly individual who was removed by RCMP at the request of the crew,” the statement said. “There were no injuries and we thank our guests on the flight for their patience while this matter was resolved. Out of respect for the privacy of this individual, we will not be making any further comments.”
