Véronique Hivon drops out of PQ leadership race

Véronique Hivon has dropped out of the Parti Québécois (PQ) leadership race, citing health reasons.

According to a press release, the Joliette MNA contracted an acute viral infection and was told by her doctor that she must rest for at least four weeks because her condition has deteriorated.

Hivon promised to continue on with her “commitment and hard work to achieve Quebec independence.”

Former cabinet ministers Martine OuelletAlexandre Cloutier and Jean-François Lisée, a well as lawyer Paul St-Pierre Plamondon are still running in the race to succeed Pierre Karl Péladeau as PQ leader.
