A Cloverdale man was shocked to discover this week that his truck had been broken into.

But the suspects in the case may surprise you.

It appears the duo is a woman and a child or a teenager.

Residents of the neighbourhood at 184 Street and 58A Avenue say along with truck, three homes were also targeted early Monday morning.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

In the surveillance tape, provided by resident Ryan Spacey, the two people can be seen searching through the truck and then trying to break in to a trailer next to it.

Spacey says he put up the camera because he’s had to deal with break-ins five times this year alone.

“It’s frustrating,” he said. “And you try everything you can do. You put cameras up, signs, and whatever you can do to tell people to stay off your property. But if they want in, they’re going to get in.”

Surrey RCMP says there are a number of youth who do commit break-and-enters, but add it would be very uncommon for a parent and child duo to be involved.

Officers are looking into the incident using the tape. If they confirm that it is a child in the video, they will report it to the Ministry of Children and Families.
