Police are warning of fake American money being circulated in Saskatoon.

Over the past week, a number of businesses accepted U.S. currency for payment.

It was later determined the bills were counterfeit.

Police say businesses should never accept a bank note they’re uncomfortable with and to arrange another payment method if necessary.

Owners are asked to report any fraudulent incidents to the authorities.

The economic crime unit continues to investigate.
