Calgary police are warning drivers of heavy traffic on Deerfoot Trail at the Bow River overpass after a man drove his SUV off the bridge into the river.
EMS said they responded to Highway 2 (Deerfoot Trail) north of Dunbow Road just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was removed from the vehicle, stabilized on scene by paramedics and taken to Foothills Medical Centre in critical, life-threatening condition.
Calgary police said there were multiple witnesses. While there are no road closures, police warn there is heavy traffic congestion in the area.
RCMP are leading the investigation as the incident occurred within their jurisdiction.
