NEAR WEST KELOWNA – Efforts to re-open one of the most popular campgrounds in the Okanagan are underway.
The Bear Creek Provincial Park campground was evacuated because of Sunday’s wildfire and windstorm.
The campground escaped the flames but remains closed because of downed trees.
They came crashing down at the height of Sunday night’s windstorm.
Luckily, no one was injured and no vehicles or campers were damaged.
The campground’s 122 sites were all occupied when it was evacuated.
Park officials say they don’t know when it will re-open.
They say it’s going to take at least a couple of days before all the downed trees and debris are cleared.
